PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Members of the AFSUMB:

Greetings from Taiwan! On behalf of the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB), I would like to thank you for your continuous support and contribution, which have moved the AFSUMB to one of the biggest and most successful federations in the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB).

The AFSUMB was founded in 1987 with aims to encourage research, to promote international cooperation and to disseminate scientific information in the field of ultrasound in medicine and biology. Currently, the AFSUMB has 16433 members from 15 member societies: Japanese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (8067 members), Chinese Taipei Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (4790 members), Korean Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (1650 members), Indonesian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (290 members), Indian Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (256 members), Society of Ultrasound in Medicine of Chinese Medical Association (220 members), Medical Ultrasonic Society of Thailand (218 members), Philippine Society of Ultrasound in Clinical Medicine Inc (200 members), Malaysian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (190 members), Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (160 members), Ultrasound Society of Pakistan (115 members), Mongolian Society of Diagnostic Ultrasound (108 members), Medical Ultrasound Society of Singapore (90 members), Hong Kong Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (45 members), and Cambodian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (34 members). We heartily welcome all other Asian national societies of ultrasound in medicine to join this federation.

The AFSUMB’s scientific activities include an AFSUMB Congress every 3 years ( the 9th AFSUMB Congress will be in New Delhi, India, Nov 18-21, 2010) and an AFSUMB Education Workshop every year. I encourage you to attend these meetings and to visit the AFSUMB’s website at www.afsumb.org for the updated information. I am looking forward to seeing you.
